Join our team at Don Anderson & Associates as an Accountant / Tax Preparer and contribute to our full-service accounting firm by providing expert accounting and tax preparation services to businesses and individuals in the Central Virginia area. We are a local, growing public accounting firm that is looking to expand its current staff to accommodate our ever-increasing client base. As an Accountant / Tax Preparer, you will play a vital role in financial statement preparation, ensuring accurate income tax filings, and tax planning with clients. Responsibilities:
  • Preparation of Individual Income tax returns, form 1040, ensuring compliance with federal and state tax regulations and maximizing allowable deductions for the client.
  • Preparation of Business Income tax returns, forms 1120, 1120S and 1065, ensuring compliance with federal and state tax regulations and maximizing allowable deductions for the client.
  • Preparation of Multi-State Income tax returns for Corporations and Partnerships ensuring compliance with multiple state tax regulations while also ensuring proper apportionment allocation of income items. Financial statement preparation and analysis.
  • Develop tax planning strategies for clients to minimize their tax impact and optimize their financial goals. Review and adjust as needed client prepared financial records to ensure compliance with tax regulations. Communication with federal and state tax authorities on behalf of the taxpayer, either through written correspondence or verbal communication
Qualifications
  • Candidate should be proficient in CCH ProSystem FX, QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and Office 365. Candidate will be trained in other industry specific software used by the firm.
  • Bachelor’s degree with major area of study in accounting
    Licensed Enrolled Agent with Internal Revenue Service or willingness to obtain license
  • Position requires candidate to be in the office full-time with weekend and evening work required during peak seasons or to meet project deadlines. Remote access work is available to accommodate after-hours work.
